Wanted:  People-minded, process-driven, and results-oriented Operations Manager who takes responsibility when things are bad and defers credit when things are right to run day-to-day operations of a fast-growing, multi-faceted business that includes manufacturing and import/distribution.
 
The purpose for the role: To allow the company to grow by improving efficiencies in manufacturing, logistics, sales support, customer support, day-to-day finance, purchasing, pricing, quality and regulatory through improved SOPs and focused team supervision.  This position takes over day-to-day operations management responsibilities from the General Manager.

The work
  • 70% leading others, helping them solve their problems
  • 30% personal responsibilities
    • Tier Two customer service
    • Writing/Reviewing SOPs to improve efficiencies
    • Import logistics, customs, transloading
    • Sales projections/purchasing/pricing
    • Oversee final part of FSMA
    • Oversee production
    • Supervise office staff
    • Manage the expense budget
    • Manage a real estate portfolio

Year One
  1. Establish leadership rapport with the team to solidify them into the desired corporate culture and improve performance
  2. Review and improve SOPs.  Simplify work to make people more efficient.
  3. Complete the last 5% of FSMA.  Implement the complete process.

Year Two - Five
  1. Hire to match and facilitate company growth
  2. Deal with vendors on new products
  3. Relocate offices (locally)

To be considered for this role
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with documented processes (ISO 9001, FSMA, BRC, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Ability to adjust daily schedule to solve a variety of problems as they appear
  • Solid experience writing SOPs.
  • FSMA experience highly desired
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Customer-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a variety of personality types
  • Experience in agriculture highly desired
  • BS degree in animal science, dairy science, business management or operations desired.
