SoBran, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for proposed efforts in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Overview:  Responsible for all activities required for the proper care and maintenance of the CDC Fort Collins Animal Care Services operation as directed.

Description of Duties:  (Job descriptions are subject to change to reflect duties and responsibilities.)


Assist and manage aspects of the following based on the Program Manager’s directives:  

1.Ensure that animals are cared for and maintained in accordance with the Animal Welfare Regulations, U.S. Public Health Service Policy on the Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.

2.Supervise and direct daily activities of project staff to ensure that all required functions are carried out appropriately, including receiving animals, feeding and watering, sanitation and cleaning, handling and restraint, health surveillance, equipment maintenance, supply inventories, animal manipulations, laboratory procedures, data management, and other contract-related duties.

3.Establish breeding programs.

4.Follow-up on staff schedules to meet routine and emergency needs of the animals.

5.Ensure appropriate staff technical training, supervision, and evaluation.

6.Develop and revise all animal facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with review and approval of the Project Officer(s).

7.Ensure that all SOPs, quality assurance guidelines, and protocols are adhered to.

8.Report to the Project Officer(s) any abnormal conditions of the animals or the facility.

9.Provide oral or written reports, records, charts, logs, schedules and inventories to the Project Officer(s) as requested or required by the contract.

10.Order and maintain supply and equipment inventories.

11.Communicate needs for facility equipment, logistical support and management to the Project Officer.

12.Assist in contract activities, as necessary, to complete the work required.

13.Act as liaison between Project Officers and the contractor.

14.Receive and execute notices, directions, and instructions from the Project Officer and the contractor.

15.Provide service and advice to investigators on executing their protocols.

16.Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to appropriate personnel.

17.Perform other duties as assigned by the contractor.

Requirements:  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred, certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science as a Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) or become certified within 8 months of obtaining the position; and have 4 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility, 2 years of which is in a supervisory position.  Must have experience in such specialty areas as rodent, rabbit, and avian facilities management; large animal and nonhuman primate facilities management, barrier management, and biohazard containment operations a plus.  Must complete the required training and receive clearance on the duties of the Project Manager as outlined on the attached sheet.
